Super Robot Wars 64 Guide: Flow Chart, Secrets and Reference

Extra weapons

Some weapons unlock new weapons when upgraded to the unit's cap; the Earthgain, Virose and Super Earthgain attacks unlock with pilot level; and a batch of finishers unlocks through the story. Unlock tables, weapon values and use conditions all come from ROM and code analysis; story unlock timing comes from script analysis.

  • The unlock table comes from game data (the upgrade screen's full-upgrade unlock table, 18 entries): when a weapon's level exactly reaches the unit's upgrade cap, the corresponding weapon on the same unit unlocks. “Full upgrade cost” = cost per level × (1 + 2 + … + unit upgrade cap), with the per-level cost by weapon upgrade type: 5,000 for type 1, 4,000 for type 2
  • Five differences from Akurasu: Jagd Doga (120,000), MP Great Mazinger (300,000), Twin Buster Rifle MAP (110,000) and Gundam Heavyarms Kai (88,000) can't be reproduced with any type or cap; the Minerva X's 525,000 corresponds to treating cap 15 as 14Differs from Akurasu
  • The Gundam Mk-II and the Super Gundam share this Diffuse Bazooka: it unlocks once upgraded to level 11 (the Super Gundam's cap) in Super Gundam formNot verified in game
  • The Twin Buster Rifle 2 MAP and Full Barrage MAP built into the Wing Zero Custom and Heavyarms Custom are not locked in the game data; they're usable as soon as you change to the Custom
  • After firing Full Barrage MAP (Gundam Heavyarms Kai, Heavyarms Custom, Giant Robo), every ammo-limited weapon on that unit (itself included) drops to 0 ammo; EN weapons are unaffected
  • “Friendly fire”: each MAP weapon has an ally-recognition flag, and flagged ones remove squares with allies on them from the area. In the whole game only Funnel MAP, Fin Funnels MAP, Splash Breaker MAP, Spiral Sword MAP and Mandala Circle Nirvana have this flag; all other MAP weapons hit every unit within rangeNot on Akurasu
  • MAP ranges (facing up): Breast Fire / Breast Burn MAP is a 12-square fan within 4 squares ahead; Full Barrage MAP is 7 squares within 3 ahead; Go Flasher MAP is a 35-square fan within 5 ahead; Diffuse Bazooka MAP is a 9-square fan 3–5 squares ahead; Funnel MAP picks a center square within range 1–4 and hits a radius-2 diamond (13 squares), Fin Funnels MAP radius 3 (25 squares)Not on Akurasu
  • With “Upgrade cap” on, the added weapon still unlocks at the level of the original cap

  • Until the level is reached, these attacks don't appear in the weapon list: only Brad and Kurtz unlock them; each appears at the next check (after a battle, on the intermission screen, at pilot registration) once the pilot reaches level 10/15/20/25/30/35/45, and stays from then on
  • Attack, range, EN and Will per game data (no upgrades); Earthgain's Shin Tenma Shoha is 3200 in game data, while Akurasu lists 3500 (that is the Super Earthgain value)Differs from Akurasu
  • Shin Tenma Shoha is a MAP weapon that can hit allies
  • Shorai Tenryu Mametsujin is a combination attack: both pilots must be level 35 or higher, and its attack power follows the upgrades of both component attacks; it only works between the Earthgain and the Virose, so once Brad switches to the Super Earthgain it's no longer availableNot on Akurasu
  • The game data also has Super Earthgain versions of Shinso Rekkyaku and Ten'o Shohazan, but no unit is equipped with them

  • Before unlocking, these weapons aren't in the weapon list; the Complete Pacifism route merges into the OZ or Independence Army route at stage 37 and afterward unlocks them as that route does
  • The script also has a command that unlocks Double Burning Finger (at the end of Independence Army route stage 32, “Earth Sphere in Chaos”, if Allenby has joined), but combination attacks are re-evaluated by the program every time the weapon list is built, so this command has no actual effect; see the “Combination attacks” pageNot on Akurasu
