Super Robot Wars 64 Guide: Flow Chart, Secrets and Reference

Spirit Commands

SP costs come from the game data (cost table at ROM 0x100AD0, ordered by Spirit Command ID), and each effect is verified in code: a command can be cast as long as SP is at least the cost; “until next turn” means it's cleared for everyone when the next turn begins, so an effect used in the player phase lasts through the whole enemy phase. Compared with Akurasu, the descriptions of Trust, Faith, Resupply, Accel, Valor/Soul, Cover and Taunt differ, and many conditions Akurasu doesn't list are added.

This guide is based on the project’s analysis of the game’s scripts and code, with reference to the flow chart, secrets and other information on Akurasu Wiki’s Super Robot Wars 64 pages. Thanks to Akurasu’s writers and editors for maintaining this material over the years. Badges mark differences and information not covered there.

Spirit Command list

NameSP costTargetDurationEffect
Self-Destruct1SelfInstantDestroys yourself, dealing damage equal to your current HP to every unit adjacent up, down, left or right (including allies), ignoring armor, terrain and barriers; units in Stealth take no damage, Libra takes only 10; unusable with no adjacent unitsNot on Akurasu
Scan11 enemyInstantView the target's status; usable only on enemies you have not yet fought or used Scan on, and the status stays visible afterwardNot on Akurasu
Accel10SelfNext moveDiffers from AkurasuMove +3; kept as long as you don't move, not cleared at turn change
Mercy10SelfOne battleIf the target has 20 HP or more and your Skill is strictly higher than theirs, the attack won't destroy them, leaving 10 HP; also works on counterattacksNot on Akurasu
Focus15SelfUntil next turnHit and evasion rates +30%
Flash15SelfUntil one evadeNot on AkurasuCompletely evades one enemy attack; Flash takes priority when it meets Bullseye; stays until you're attacked, even across turns
Vigor20SelfInstantRestores 30% of own max HP (rounded down); can't be used at full HP
Gain20SelfOne battleExperience ×2 from the next battle
Bullseye25SelfUntil next turn100% hit rate, ignoring the target's Afterimage and Parry; if the target used Flash, Flash takes priority; Dummy can still block itNot on Akurasu
Trust301 ally (self allowed)Not on AkurasuInstantRestores 30% of the chosen unit's max HP (rounded down)Differs from Akurasu
Wall30SelfUntil next turnDoubles own armor (doubled armor goes into the damage formula)Not on Akurasu
Cover351 ally (not self)Until attacked onceDiffers from AkurasuThe next time the chosen ally is attacked, you fight in its place, at any range; does not cover an ally that used Flash; ends if you are shot down or either unit boards, combines or uses Separate; no turn limit
Taunt351 enemyUntil it wears offDiffers from AkurasuMakes the chosen enemy target only you, at any range; it lasts until you are shot down, or either side boards, combines or Separates, with no turn limit; some bosses and elites are immune to TauntNot on Akurasu
Valor40SelfOne battleDiffers from AkurasuDamage ×2 in the next battle (counterattacks included); can't be used while Valor or Soul is active
Spirit40SelfInstantAll pilots of the unit get Will +10 (max 150)
Guts40SelfInstantFully restores own HP; unusable at full HP
Fortune45SelfOne battleFunds ×2 from the next battle (multiplied with the kill bonus; at most 65,535 per unit destroyed)
Daunt501 enemyInstantTarget enemy unit's pilots all get Will −10, down to a minimum of 50; the target's main pilot must have Will 51 or higherNot on Akurasu
Soul60SelfOne battleDiffers from AkurasuDamage ×3 in the next battle (counterattacks included); doesn't stack with Valor — an active Valor is cancelled on use (the SP spent on Valor is wasted)Not on Akurasu
Stealth60SelfUntil next turnCan't be attacked by enemies, and targets can't counter its attacks; self-destructs can't hurt it eitherNot on Akurasu
Zeal60SelfInstant+1 action remaining this turn; used before acting, you can act twice this turn
Resupply651 ally (not self)InstantFully restores the target unit's EN and all ammo, at any range; Will is unchangedDiffers from Akurasu
Rouse701 ally (self allowed)Not on AkurasuInstantTarget unit's pilots all get Will +10 (max 150)
Disrupt70All enemiesUntil next turnHalves the hit rate of every enemy on the map (third parties included), on counterattacks too; Bullseye and Flash are unaffected
Faith70All alliesDiffers from AkurasuInstantAll ally units on the map with HP not full (including self) recover 50% of max HP
Love90All alliesInstantAll ally units on the map (including self) fully recover HP
Enable901 ally (not self)InstantLets 1 unit that has already acted this turn act again
Miracle100SelfInstantThe in-game description is “????”; it actually triggers Guts, Spirit ×3, Accel, Bullseye, Flash, Soul and Fortune in turn, skipping any already active; costs only 100 SP
Prayer1001 ally (not self)InstantEach pilot on the target unit recovers 50 SP (up to the maximum)
Revive1201 allyInstantChoose 1 destroyed ally unit to Revive beside you: HP, EN, ammo and SP fully restored, Will back to 100 (+5 per equipped Shuffle Crest), spirit effects cleared, and it can act this turnNot on Akurasu
  • “Duration” follows when the code clears the effect: Accel clears after the next move; Focus, Wall, Bullseye, Disrupt and Stealth clear for everyone when the turn count increases (the next turn); Valor, Soul, Fortune, Gain and Mercy clear after one battle ends, for both attacker and defender; Flash and Cover clear after triggering; Taunt lasts until a cancel condition occurs
  • Status-type Spirit Commands are recorded on the unit's main pilot, and ones used by sub-pilots also apply to the whole unit; the three pilots of a Getter-type unit share one set of statusesNot on Akurasu
  • When a Spirit Command changes Will, it is capped at 150 and floored at 50Not on Akurasu
  • Points where Akurasu disagrees with the code: Trust (Akurasu: restores 2000), Faith (Akurasu: restores half HP to one ally), Resupply (Akurasu: target's Will −10; the Will drop actually comes from the unit command “Resupply” — the Spirit Command Resupply doesn't lower it), Accel (Akurasu: lasts 1 turn), Valor/Soul (Akurasu: one attack), Cover and Taunt (Akurasu: one battle)Differs from Akurasu
  • The enemy AI never uses Spirit Commands on its own; any Spirit Command effects on enemies come from story commands and cost no SPNot on Akurasu
  • The game data also has an unnamed Spirit Command no. 31 that nobody can learn: cost 1, own Will +30; never used in normal playNot on Akurasu

  • Counted from the ROM Spirit Command learn table (6 Spirit Commands per pilot, each learned when the pilot reaches the listed level); “Ally” = pilots the script registers to the team or that deploy on your side, counting pilots with the same name and table onceNot on Akurasu
  • Pilots marked * aren't added by the script's team-composition command but deploy directly on the player side (mostly GB link and whole-team merges; some appear on the player side only in the deployment records of a stage or two, e.g. Haman, Kyral, Mashymre — whether they're controllable is unverified)Not verified in game
  • See the next table for every pilot's spirit list; the complete data, including enemy pilots, is in the analysis file pilot-spirits.json

Details verified in code

  • Flash takes priority over Bullseye: the hit check first looks at whether the defender has Flash — if so, it's 0% outright — and only then at the attacker's Bullseye
  • Bullseye sets hit rate straight to 100%, unaffected even by the halving when the defender picks the “Evasion” command; it also skips the Afterimage and Parry checks, but Dummy, barriers such as Aura Barrier and I-Field, and Shield still applyDiffers from AkurasuNot on Akurasu
  • Focus is symmetric: +30 hit when attacking, −30 to the attacker's hit when attacked
  • Disrupt marks every enemy; marked enemies have their hit rate halved when attacking and countering, stacking with the halving from the “Evasion” command (down to 1/4 at most)
  • Wall counts the defender's armor at 2× in the damage formula; it doesn't halve damage
  • Soul (×3) and Valor (×2) don't stack; with both active Soul applies; no criticals while either is active
  • Mercy compares both sides' Skill and requires yours to be strictly higher; it has no effect if the target has under 20 HP, so the target may be shot downNot on Akurasu
  • HP restored is max HP × the rate, fractions dropped
  • The hit roll is 1–99, so 99% and 100% hit rates have the same effect in practice
